| It was another stunning South Florida day with 84 degree temps, surf a comfortable 78 degrees and a SE wind 5-10 mph with occasional gusts. 29 paddlers were at the 1PM start with many making the 4.5 hour drive from the Tampa area. There was (12) OC1's, (1) OC2, (11) Surfski's, (1) Double Surski, and (1) K2. The first leg was 1.5 miles upwind into 1-3 foot bumps, then a left hand turn with a side wind and a quartering sea for 3.5 miles. The last left turn was a 3 mile run back to the beach to complete the triangle. Thankfully this last turn had some surfable conditions for a fun ride back. Derick Bezuidenhout dominated the Surfski division and was overall winner in 55:30 which is a record time for this course. Rob Mirlenbrink was second SS in 58:05, and Mike Jordan third SS at 58:33. Bruce Gipson was first Senior Master SS in 59:11. Golden Master was Stanley Holoquist in 1:16:45. Anita Allen was first Female SS in 1:15:23. The OC1 race was very close with Harry Mountain out front again and finishing in 1:03:14. Jack Hunsucker was pushing and came in second at 1:03:50 with Raphael Clemente impressively 2 seconds behind Jack for third OC1 Open. Impressive as this was Raphael's first ever OC1 race. The former competitive cyclist, surfer and OC6 paddler is going to be a Florida paddler to watch. Lex Raas took 1st in the OC1 Senior Master category and fourth OC1 overall in 1:05:01, Golden master was won by Ashley Trop at 1:12:54.
